(I wouldn't have succeeded in writing a book I didn't love, but I love many books.) I don't know that it would have sold any better, because one thing I've discovered in the past year is that marketing fiction is way harder than any of us think, and I went into it thinking it would be hard. Still mulling this over, believe it or not. Marketing on my later books has not been "easy," but it's definitely gone easier than Abe's Turn, because it's been easier to find ready markets for these books. Even so, I haven't developed a tried-and-true, sure-fire process for instant novel marketing success. Once I do, I'll be sure to spill the beans so that everyone can capitalize on my riches and fame. :) I think I could have succeeded in writing a completely different book than Abe’s Turn.
